National privacy principles

Privacy and confidentiality considerations apply to most all if not all medical records.

The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) contains eleven Information Privacy Principles which apply to Commonwealth and Australian Capital Territory government agencies. It also has ten National Privacy Principles which apply to parts of the private sector and to all health service providers. The Principles cover a range of self-explanatory areas, as follows:
